""Insurance Shock — and a Small Miracle” I was definitely in a pickle. My insurance for my 2024 Kia Sorento was with Company AS, and my premium seemed high at $208 a month. Clean license, no tickets, no accidents in over five years — but I told myself, “It’s a brand-new vehicle, that’s why.” When renewal time came around in June 2025, I figured my premium would drop. The car was now a year old, still no violations, plus I’m a senior and a first responder. Surely, I’d catch a break, right? Wrong. I was quoted $214 a month. I just sat there in disbelief — this made no sense! I went to my “safe place” in my brain to cope with the shock and confusion. Naturally, I did what anyone would do: I Googled for better rates. Turns out AS operates under a whole bevy of other company names.
